This is depending on what system you have installed. Which systems within a screed, it is often recommended to have your heating on all the time but at a very low temperature say around 18 degrees. Then when you wish to use the rooms you can turn the temperature up to your desired temperature. However, with proper thermostat programming, you can cut down on energy bills by having your heating turn on at say 4pm every day if you work a 9-5 property. Underfloor heating can be a brilliantly efficient way to heat your home provided that it is installed and commissioned correctly. Along with having sufficient levels of insulation in a property.

You will often find that water underfloor heating is cheaper to run than an electric underfloor heating system. The reason is that the water systems are fed by gas boilers, heat pumps and oil boilers, which are normally cheaper per kilowatt when compared to electricity.

With any heating system, electric and wet underfloor heating have their own advantages and disadvantages.

The initial costs of electric underfloor heating are usually a lot less then a wet underfloor heating system. However you can sometimes find that they will be more expensive to run. Often it is recommended if looking to put in underfloor heating in a small extension such as a kitchen or bathroom, you may be best suited to install electric underfloor heating, to cause minimal disruption and cause minimal floor height build up.

However if looking to install underfloor heating in the whole of a property water underfloor heating could be more advisable. With so many different ways to install wet underfloor heating, there will be a solution to your renovation conundrum.
