Each manifold can support 110 metres of pipe and is therefore suitable for small-end large heating systems. How does an underfloor heating manifold work?

Underfloor heating manifolds work by distributing warm water to each zone. Generally, a zone refers to an individual room that is controlled by its own thermostat. Manifolds connect the heating pipework to the heat source, which can be a boiler, heat pump, or another source of heat. The manifold circulates the water from the heat source into the pipes while regulating the pressure, flow rate, and water temperature. Manifolds play a crucial role in keeping the water in your UFH system balanced, and this ensures that an even and comfortable heat is maintained across the floor.

Manifolds control multiple circuits within a zone and can warm different rooms at varying times, via the use of a programmable thermostat. Do I need a manifold for underfloor heating?
Most underfloor heating systems require a manifold. Manifolds are the heart of a system, where the water is mixed and distributed to the pipes at the correct temperature.

Where should the underfloor heating manifold be placed?
For optimal performance, underfloor heating manifolds should be positioned centrally in the property. By doing this, the minimum length of pipe can be used, which helps to keep water temperatures consistent. When underfloor heating is being installed over a large area, multiple manifolds may be needed.

Does the manifold need to be close to a boiler?
An underfloor heating manifold doesn’t need to be in the same room as a boiler or heat source. It is better placed in the room where the UFH system is to be fitted. If possible, situate the manifold centrally within the zones for a multi-room installation, or somewhere close by for a single room installation.
